Modular vs. Total Laboratory Automation
Increasing throughput in the drug discovery screening process drove the initial need for laboratory automation. Now laboratory automation is of interest to a wide spectrum of laboratories for the many benefits it offers. The question now is not whether to automate but how.
There is a trend toward modular automation, where small workcells are rapidly configured, installed and brough into operation. These workcells can be interconnected and reconfigured as needed.
The major benefits or this approach are:
- Faster payback, because each workcell can go online when it is ready.
- Better cost control, because each workcell has its own timeline and costs can be spread over time.
Let's Go Robotics works with its clients to determine whether modular or total laboratory automation is appropriate, and then defines a project plan that supports each client's objectives.
